Firearms Transfers

FFL TRANSFERS ON SITE

HISR is a Type 07 FFL facility. We handle transfers by appointment only — email the Range Office before anything ships.

  • Email before anything ships. You must notify HISR in advance at rangeoffice@thehisr.com. We must receive your dealer's FFL before the transfer can proceed.

  • Appointments only. Transfers are not walk-in. Schedule a pickup time after we notify you that your item has arrived.

  • Don't call to check status. Once initiated, we'll contact you when it's ready. Calling in to check delays the process and may result in an additional charge.

  • Alabama driver's license required. No transfers without a current Alabama DL. No out-of-state recipients. No multiples of the same firearm in a single transfer.

POLICIES

  • 5-day free storage. Items are held at no charge for five days after arrival. A daily storage fee applies after that.

  • Delayed or denied? If you are delayed by NICS, the transfer fee is still due. If denied, you are responsible for the transfer fee and cost to return the firearm.

  • NFA / Form 3 transfers -  HISR does not accept Form 3 transfers from other dealers. For NFA items, use the Silencer Shop Kiosk on-site. Class III transfers for members are available on special request from $150.

  • Private party transfers are available for HISR members only. The seller must be present or include a copy of their license with the shipment.

  • HISR will not accept any transfer containing multiples of the same firearm/receiver

  • HISR will not conduct any transfer without a current Alabama driver’s license

  • HISR will not conduct any transfer for an out of state recipient

  • Private Party transfers will only be handled for HISR members and the seller MUST be present at time of transfer or include a copy of their license (if shipped)

  • If you are delayed, you will still be responsible for the transfer fee at the time of the background check.

  • If you are denied by NICS, you will be responsible for the transfer fee AND the cost to return the firearm

  • HISR DOES NOT ACCEPT FORM 3 (NFA) TRANSFERS FROM OTHER DEALERS AT THIS TIME. Please check Silencer Shop for your needs.

  • For HISR members, transfers for Class III items conducted without the use of Silencer Shop are available upon special request and start at $150.

  • ALL STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS APPLY.
